London/Milan Fashion Week F/W 2011 Streetstyle Faves

Disclaimer: You're about to experience a[n] [ultra-bright] photo explosion.
Bear with me, I'm kind of a visual person! It seems that the latest color-blocking trend is a transatlantic one, and we can thank Ms. Anna Dello Russo (Street Style Queen, as evidenced here) for providing us with many, many eye-blinding flourescent-spectrumed outfits - as well as her equally stunning assistant fashion editor (who, I might add, has been channeling bold colors before it hit the runway last season), Viviana Volpicella, among many others...  And oh, the arm candy! It seems as if everyone has put aside - temporarily - their Céline Luggage "Mini"s for clutches in every size/shape/color - in fact, upon seeing this picture of the yellow neoprene Marc by Marc laptop case, I immediately shelled out my cash and purchased one in turquoise, here. So affordable! Avant-garde totes are catching my eye as well...isn't the Joao Sabino Keybag insane?! And that Jil Sander Market Acetate bag (that is sadly sold out - would it be too extreme to carry around my own plastic bag in a desperate effort (Hint: That's a rhetorical question...I think)???

The whole Galliano spectacle - upsetting, agreed? Makes the near endings of fashion week more bittersweet than usual...

xx Gaby

P.S. Outfit post tomorrow, if all goes well!

NYFW F/W 2011 Streetstyle Faves

When I decided to resume blogging, I made a set of rules for myself to obtain in keeping this blog as fresh as possible. One of those rules was to avoid redundancy. We all know that fashion week is in full throttle, and since I don't follow runway all too keenly (it can be disappointing), what comes to mind is the streetstyle of the many bloggers, editors-at-large, models off duty, etc. But we've all seen those photos that go in heavy rotation in the blog-o-sphere! It would be beyond redundant to post them... But just to avoid a blog standstill, I wanted to keep you elated for now with my favorites of New York fashion week. And knowing me, I just might do the same thing come London (going on now!), Milan and Paris . Enjoy!

Do we sense some repetition here? Remember last fall - can you see the heavy contrast? I guess Celine/Chloe-esque beige minimalism has met it's ephemeral endings, rainbow colors and prints dominate as far as the eye can see! Other recurring themes seem to be proportion experimentation (and heavy layering), monster-sized clutches, hair in the brightest of hues and polka dots à la Marc Jacobs. And have any of you caught on to the sea of plush furs (here, and on the runway)? Luxury is making it's way back, I see. Is that enough to make an economic prediction? Hmm....

What other escalating trends have you noticed in streetstyle and/or runway?

Nomenus Quarterly

If you haven't heard of Nomenus Quarterly yet, I have just shared with you an invaluable treasure. If I'm not mistaken, it is the world's most expensive magazine - last time I checked, it was $6,500 - luxury at it's best. But I can't say that it's not worth it, as far as what its website provides. Everything from art to fashion to photography is found within it's pages; an art curator of sorts. And the fashion editorials - let me breathe for a second... the fashion editorials are envisioned specifically to recognize the clothing for the things that they are - art. Totally mesmerizing, giving my regular fashion glossies a true run for their money.

Upon seeing this editorial of the Rodarte Spring/Summer 2011 RTW (which I loved), I was left a bit hazy. NQ did a great job in encapsulating the emotions that the clothes emit, centralizing one article of clothing and using it to create an entire environment. Stunning. Nostalgic vibes just radiate from this, am I right? Let me just let it speak for itself...

See the rest here, and make sure you check the Nomenus Quarterly archives - especially the art - and delve into their virtual treasure trove! Look out for their next issue at the end of March!

P.S. I'll try to fit in an outfit post sometime this week, I'm aware you haven't seen me since early/mid-2009! Though I can't say my looks have changed, my style definitely has been edited and tinkered with!

Valentine's Dilemma

Strawberries smothered in Nutella, The Beatles' Love Songs album, and the latest glossy (though I'd much rather prefer a good book) is fine accompaniment (or romantic substitute?) on this Valentine's Day. I'm very much the single gal (not complaining!), but nonetheless was showered with delicious treats by my loved ones...not to mention myself - strawberries and Nutella are a thriftier option for their "fancier" counterpart (chocolate-covered ones) but equally indulgent and fulfilling.

Give me that, a lulling record, and I'll just make up an imaginary boyfriend who would spoil me limitlessly (with shoes, of course)! Lame? I concur!

Happy Valentines Day to all my fellow single ladies & gentlemen, I send you my love and kisses! And to all you couples, cherish each other and spend it romantically (remember: it's all about the details!!!)

xx

I've been up all morning (and night) in a weird hyperactive state and figured the best way to neutralize that was to cry to the melancholic glory known as Jim Croce. My emotions are all over the place! Anyways, I fathomed I need to provide a bulky, hearty post as an of apology of sorts, so I decided that a preview into my minuscule room and closet should be in order. Who am I kidding, this is the about every nook and cranny of my repulsively sea-foam green room that is in dire need of making over! And up to this point, I wasn't fully aware of my attraction to every hue in the universe! But this post isn't realistic in any way, I am not that meticulous in organization - in fact I'm quite the slob-fest!

And I took advantage of the image overdose to practice mastering the ropes known as editing, so bear with the amateurish quality. Hope you enjoyed, my dears!
